Why Mangroves Matter

Mangroves are extraordinary trees that serve as powerful allies in the fight against climate change. They can store up to four times more carbon than tropical forests, helping reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Mangroves also play a vital role in:

Our initiative directly contributes to the UAE’s national goal of planting 100 million mangroves by 2030, as announced at COP26, and aligns with global climate action efforts.

As part of the “Mangrove Initiative”, Arab Bank gifts a registered, traceable mangrove tree to the “Junior” and “Elite” customers. Each tree is planted in the UAE and assigned a unique digital profile—accessible anytime, anywhere.
